About Me
Hi, I’m Suchitra, I go by Shift.
I’m a Computer Science student with a strong interest in systems, databases, and backend engineering. I enjoy working close to the fundamentals of software: understanding how systems behave under real-world constraints, why certain design decisions matter, and how performance, correctness, and simplicity trade off against each other.
My technical interests span distributed systems, storage engines, and data-intensive infrastructure, with a growing curiosity toward ML systems, not only from the model side, but also from the systems challenges that arise when machine learning workloads meet scale, data, and performance constraints. I’m drawn to projects where I can contribute something uniquely my own, building software that is not only functional, but also carefully designed and humane.
Outside of building systems, I enjoy quizzing, Model United Nations, and hackathons, these are spaces that for me, reward clear thinking, fast learning, and collaboration under pressure. I also have a deep interest in music and hold a Junior Distinction in Carnatic Classical Music, which has shaped how I think about structure, discipline, and creative expression.
When I’m not working on code, you’ll usually find me reading across technology and science, sketching out new ideas, or tinkering with setups and configurations just for the joy of understanding how things work.
